Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test - OTET

Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha conducts Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) in order to select candidates for the appointment of teacher for Classes I to VIII in government, private aided, and private unaided schools of Odisha.

OTET Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Category-A (Paper-I):
  1. Aspirants should clear Class XII with at least 50% (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ SEBC/ PwD candidates) aggregate marks. Also, candidates should possess a two-year diploma in Elementary Education (CT).

  2. Aspirants should clear Class XII with at least 50% (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ SEBC/ PwD candidates) aggregate marks. Also, candidates should possess a two-year diploma in Special Education.

  3. Aspirants should clear graduation in any stream. Also, candidates should possess a two-year diploma in Elementary Education /Special Education.
Eligibility Criteria for Category-B (Paper-II):
  1. Aspirants should clear graduation with at least 50% (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ SEBC/ PwD candidates) marks. Also, candidates should pass a one-year course in Bachelor in Education (B Ed).

  2. Aspirants should clear graduation with at least 50% (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ SEBC/ PwD candidates) marks. Also, candidates should pass a one-year course in B Ed (Special Education).

  3. Aspirants should clear Class XII with at least 50% (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ SEBC/ PwD candidates) aggregate marks. Also, candidates should pass a four-year BA Ed/ BSc Ed course.

OTET Exam Pattern

There will be 150 multiple choice questions in the exam that candidates need to complete in 2.5 hours duration.

OTET Application Fees

Candidates can pay OTET application fee in the online (via debit card/ net banking) or offline mode (via SBI Collect).
  • For General/OBC/SEBC candidates the application fees is Es.500/-
  • For SC/ST candidates the application fees is Rs. 300/-
  • Note: Application fee may change over time.
